No Sense, Indie Movie "Wild Grass"1 1/2 cents

My friend Arthur and I are indie buddies. We decided to go see "Wild Grass", which got a very good rating by the critics. HELLO, What the HECK!! this is why you need me folks, these critics must be smoking something when they are watching these movies. Here's the truth. The movie went in so many directions that made no sense at all, but you keep watching because you thinks it's so bizarre, it will all tie together in the end. Well, not so with this movie, It never tied anything together, and your left thinking, what in the heck was that??? You have an older man, you figure out he's married to a young beautiful woman, has 2 kids, seems to have a normal life. He finds a wallet at a mall parking garage, and the strangness begins. He has thoughts of killing random people, nothing pans out with that. He starts obsessing over this woman he's never met, turns into a stalker, then the cops come and talk to him. So he stops, then she misses it, so she starts obsessing over him. Calls him at home, the wife knows about her and seems happy to talk to her and tell her where her husband is. The only thing you get out of the movie is he loves airplanes; he and his father bonded over them and his father dies the week before. He see's her pilots license in the wallet and is infactuated with her. Well, she has a dental practice with a female partner, you can't really figure out if their lovers or not. she starts enjoying hurting her patients. She can't stop thinkig of mr. weirdo and flying her plane again. She has her friend bring her to his house, wife again happy to see her, invites her in for tea. Hubby gets home, sees girlfriend in the car outside. goes up to the window, reaches in to unbuckle her seatbelt, and starts making out with her. She never seems to like him before, but that doesn't stop anything. Brings her in the house and she asks for water. The wife says "So your bringing them home now". Next thing you know, obsessing girl, with the wildest reddest hair you've ever seen, invites them to go flying which they excitedly accept, and he goes to the bathroom, his fly gets stuck down. They go up in the plane. Red obsessing girl, sees his fly down and seems to get excited as does he. Next think you know plane is all over the place flying upside down several times and crashes. Next scene some strange woman in a house, using a type writer, little girl in bed, asking mommy if she becomes a cat, can she eat cat treats. And the movie ends. Hello, The end. How stupid. I've just saved you $10. See why you need me. LOL.

"Takers", Makes Sense, 4 stars or "cents"

Dan and I just saw Takers last night, it was really good. Had Paul Walker in it, haven't seen him in awhile, and the guy that was in Obsessed. Matt Dillion played a cop, and I think this was Chris Brown's first attempt at acting. He did a pretty good job. It was a great movie about a gang of robbers that kept pulling off the perfect crimes, until one of the bad, bad guys who just got out of jail, wanted them to pull off a job that was really big money and coming up fast. They felt they owed it to him, since he went to jail after being caught on one of their jobs, and he never fessed up to who was in on it with him. A very entertaining movie, lots of action, just a hint of romance, which was nice. The bad guys were so nice, that I wanted them to get away with it instead of the cops getting them. Which says alot  since I"m a cops wife. LOL I think you'll love this movie. I did.

Cheesecake Factory's new appet.

My friend Shari and I went to the Cheesecake factory for lunch yesterday. The food there is always delicious. Well, they have some new small bites appetizers that are fabulous. We started with the tuna tartare. Oh  my goodness, one of the best things I've ever eaten. Round in shape, the bottom is fresh avocado, then chopped ahi on top, wasabi pesto, then a soy ginger sauce. Finished with fried wontons. I can't tell you how delicious it was. A new craving for me and Shari. Also we had a pizzette, 4.95. it was on flat thin pizza, with pears, argula, pecans, and blue cheese. Second time I've had that, also so delicious. I have my other favorite standbys too, The avocado eggrolls are excellent with this sweet green sauce that I know has cilantro in it. My husbands and I's favorite of all time, but now that ahi comes in pretty darn close. Well, there really isn't anything thats not killer at the Cheesecake Factory, but you have to try their new small appetizers. Shari and I split a chopped salad too, and got out of there with a $35. bill. not to bad, for such great quality food. Good yummies.

Switch "makes sense" 4 Stars

I just saw Switch yesterday with Jennifer Anniston and Justin Bateman. It was a cute movie. I'd give it a 4 out of 5 rating. Definately a girls movie. My husband would not sit through it, but I liked it. Jennifer was in her usual type role which she does well. I am just really loving Justin here lately. I really noticed him in "Hancock", and have loved everything he's done since. The story is about a woman who's baby clock is running out so she decides to get a sperm donor and make it a go of it on her own. Justin is her BFF who really wants to be more.  He was getting alittle irritating cause he was taking forever in the movie to let her know his feelings.  Without spoiling the movie, I loved the message at the end. Everychild needs a mother and a father! so grab a couple of girlfriends and go see it.

Makes No sense- Dinner for Smucks.

More like Movie for Smucks. It was an absolutely stupid movie with a few laughs.I like most movies and I love funny movies, but this one I almost didn't sit through, and that takes alot to get me to walk out of a movie. But I stayed thinking I've got to stick it out, see if it has a good ending. It never got better. Steve C. was over the top stupid. Paul Rudd was great in it though. It was just too stupid funny for me. I can't believe in the papers it got a better rating then Other Guys, cause they are wrong and I am right!!LOL

Makes Sense - Other Guys

Yesterday, I saw "The Other Guys", with Mark Walberg and Will Ferrell. It was very funny. Kind of a satirey take on the police department and cops, (my husband would not like that at all. LOL) It was one of those stupid but very funny movies. Keeps you laughing through out. Makes the cops look like idiots, but thats whats so funny. Mark Walberg did a great job of being funny, being serious. I'm sure they had to do alot of takes, cause he was probably laughing at Will Ferrell alot. Eva Mendes well what can you say about her, Hot as always, and she was funny too. A classic Will Ferrell movie.  Great movie to see for some mindless humor.

smashburger

I'm lovin the place called smashburger. The one I went to is on Lake Mead and Buffalo area, next door to Starbucks. I've been there 3 times and loved it. I absolutely love the Smashchicken sandwich. They put it on a multigrain bun, and best of all you can have the classic or make your own. I put cheddar cheese, guac. and haystack onion straws, of course with your lettuce and tomato. It's so delic. but whats nice is, instead of offering just your good old french fries, which i love french fries, they have sweet potato fries with some thyme on them, and they are fantastic. Also what I love is their flashpan veggies with an awesome dip, i think it has a hint of horseradish in it. Asparagus, green beans and carrots, you eat them like french fries, so yummy. Last time they forgot to put my onion straws on my sandwich, so they brought me a whole side out. Oh my goodness, so delicious. They are addictive. Their smashed burgers are so good too, I've just been addicted to the chicken sandwich. It can be alittle pricy when your adding items to your sandwich, but you can still get an excellent classic sandwich without adding anything to it. Definately a gotta try it!!

kinda makes sense

Ok I saw Eat, Pray, Love yesterday. I have mixed reviews. I enjoyed it, though it was a tad long. If you like Julia Roberts, it was very good. She poured herself into this role and did a fabulous job. The movie was what I expected, a woman who lost herself trying to find herself. I personally would never travel out of the country on my own especially to India. I'd take a friend to help my find myself. haha. But overall the movie was likeable but long, So rent the dvd when it comes out.

Slidin Thru

I ate at a great truck stop last week. It's called Slidin Thru. It is 3 young culinary art students, that travel around the valley in this cool california style truck and sell some delicious sliders. Each week they post their schedule of where they are going to be at. Last Saturday they were on Durango across the street from Retro Bakery. We decided to go around 7. They were there from 6-9pm. We brought a couple of chairs (good thinking on my part), and when we arrived there was already a line of about 15 people. Alot of other people brought chairs, sat under some trees, relaxed. I stood in line and talked to this nice fellow from LA and he and his family were staying at the Belliago;when he heard where the slidin thru truck was going to be, he said they had to come, it was so yummy. They sell gourmet sliders and regular fries and sweet potato fries, but that night we were there the frier was broke, bummer for us, as we were looking forward to those sweet potato fries. Not my husband though, he grew up poor and they went out and picked sweet potato's almost everyday and that was their dinner and to this day he hates them, no matter how i cook them.  So to get back to the food, it was as good as I was hoping. I had the barbie  and pep pep and the pulled pork. 3 sliders for $7. two for $5 or $3 each. Great deal and good size.  The pulled pork was tender but needed more sauce. The barbie and pep pep were to die for. Great quality beef.  Great flavors. they also had an eggplant caprese my daughter Ashley had, she said it needed a bigger piece of eggplant though.  Overall, I'm going back again. but some tips. don't wait and go 30 mins. before they close as sometimes they run out of food, and you could be waiting 25 mins in line and they come and tell you their out, but they are nice enough to give you some free slider coupons for the next time you come. during the summer bring a lawn chair and prepare to just relax and hang and visit as it was one hour from the time i ordered (each order freshly made) to the time I was sittingin my chair and eating. But let me tell you it was worth it. The best sliders I"ve ever had. So wait til the sun is almost down and head out. Look them up at slidinthru.com. they are out for lunch and dinner. And they guy in line told me if you tell them you read about them on YELP they give you a free slider, which they did. A fun different kind of experience. So this experience was definately a "MAKES SENSE".

makes senses

Well, Dan and I just got back from seeing "Expendables". It was awesome. Alot of action. A man's kind of movie. Lots of blood and guts, kick butt guns. Great to see some of the older actions hero's of our time. Arnold didn't have much scene action or did Bruce Willis, but it left it open for an Expendables two. Jason Statham was awesome.  He is one of the best action hero's of all time, and he still looks fine. Sylvester did great too, one of his better movies since he's aged. He and Micky could have a facelift club for aging actors, but like I said they were great. Definately a got to see.
TIP: butterfingers and lightly buttered popcorn taste great together. A bite of each at the same time. Oohh lala.

How I decided to start this Blog.

I love to go to the movies and I love to eat. I sometimes go to the movies 2 to 3 times a week, and I always love to eat at different places.  My friends are always asking me for my opinions on the movies I see, and always tease me about talking about food all the time. So one day one of the girls at work, Gaby, who always asks what I've seen, says to me "You should start a movie blog, everytime you've told you about a movie your dead on". So I started thinking about it, and then friends have added you could add food to it also, cause I'm always talking about where I've eaten. I don't eat much at home. My husband and I work different shifts, and who feels like cooking for 1. So he pretty much takes care of himself during the week, and I do the same. Then we eat out together every weekend. I do manage to cook a home cooked meal once a week. WooHoo. I do love to cook also. But my hubby will get more of that when I get to retire. To end this story of how I began...My friend Kathy, whom I work with, thought this was a great idea, and she said you should have a great name, something to do with your senses as your using two of them. Then she said remember that saying" putting in your two cents. And tada...She had my title "Ellens2sense" and I knew that was it.My boss at work Robert, also added, my ratings on movies could be "Makes Sense or No Senses", Love it. Thank you everyone for your input.  This should be fun and interesting to see if anyone even follows it. But I have to tell you, I won't steer you wrong on food or the movies, so please check me out here.
